About Surya
Surya is a nationally recognized luxury Ayurvedic wellness brand at Santa Monica Proper Hotel — a spa, a product line, a philosophy, and increasingly, a media company. We work with WME, we're in conversations with some of the most exciting production companies in the world, and we're growing into hospitality partnerships that would make most brands envious. We're also a small, deeply human team that takes seriously every tool and relationship that supports our work. We move fast, we care about soul, and we're looking for people who understand both.
The Role
We want Claude — Anthropic's Sonnet model — woven meaningfully into how our team thinks and works. Not as a novelty. Not as a shortcut. As a genuine collaborator that grows smarter about Surya over time and makes every person on our team more effective at what they already do well.
We're looking for the person who can make that happen — and who gets why it matters.
What You'll Do:
- Map where AI adds real value across our work — writing, strategy, operations, client communications, product development, and media — and where it doesn't.
- Build and maintain a Claude Project that serves as Surya's shared AI brain — uploading and organizing brand materials, strategy documents, voice guidelines, product information, and institutional knowledge so every team member works from the same informed foundation, without starting from scratch.
- Build shared prompt libraries, workflows, and templates written in Surya's voice and calibrated to our specific needs.
- Train each team member individually — because what Hannah needs as Martha's EA is different from what Dani needs as our Chief Growth Officer, etc.
- Build and maintain shared knowledge systems so our AI's understanding of Surya compounds over time, rather than starting from scratch every conversation.
- Advise on Claude.ai features, including Projects, memory, and document handling.
- Evaluate other tools where genuinely useful — Claude Code, Cowork, relevant integrations.
- Check in monthly or bi-monthly to evolve the systems as we evolve.
Who You Are:
This role is not for a pure technologist. The right person understands brand and communication first, and AI second. If you lead with prompts and follow with curiosity about what we actually do — this isn't the fit. If you lead with genuine interest in Surya's world and bring AI fluency as the tool that serves it — we want to meet you.
- Genuinely fluent with Claude and the Anthropic ecosystem — not just generally familiar with AI.
- Familiar with Claude Projects and how to structure shared knowledge environments for small teams.
- Real experience helping teams integrate AI practically, not theoretically — you can point to what actually changed for someone.
- Able to communicate clearly and warmly with non-technical people, including founders, practitioners, and creatives.
- Discreet — you will be inside our strategy, our partnerships, our brand thinking.
- Curious about wellness, hospitality, luxury, or media — you don't need to be an expert, but you need to care enough to ask good questions.
- In or near Los Angeles, or willing to visit periodically.
Growth
We are at a genuine inflection point — media development, hospitality expansion, product scaling, investor conversations. The consultant who helps us integrate AI well now grows with us as that story unfolds. There is real opportunity here for the right person to become a meaningful long-term partner to a brand that is about to be much more widely known.
Engagement & Compensation
Part-time consulting — not a full-time hire. An initial onboarding engagement of 8–12 hours, followed by monthly or bi-monthly check-ins of 2–4 hours, plus background availability as things come up.
$75–$150/hour depending on experience. We're a growing company still rebuilding after the LA fires, and we value someone who shares our long-term orientation over someone optimizing for the highest hourly rate. The range is wide on purpose — we'd rather find the right person at the right number than the obvious person at the obvious one.
